For this week, I will discuss my
thoughts on the preparation for the midterm and the midterm itself. The
preparation for the midterm was not easy. There were countless theories in
which we have never discussed in person. For me, I would have preferred to have
a face-to-face meeting a week before the midterm. This would allow for any
questions and a proper discussion for all of the material. Even though we are
able to ask questions online, it is not the same as asking questions in person.
I also feel that the wiki contributions were not a proper review. The wiki
itself was extremely beneficial when I reviewed for the midterm. I found that
the information on the wiki was informative, but the contributions made by
myself were not useful. When I went to contribute to the wiki, there was
already too much information. All of the theories were talked about and the
chapters and articles were outlined. The most meaningful contribution I made to
the wiki was a picture depicting Super’s stages. Other contributions I made
were articles supporting the articles we were held responsible for knowing. To
be honest, I found that these contributions were pointless. The material I
added had little to do with what we were going to be held accountable for on
the midterm. I would have liked to have added more informative material but I
had no other choice since we were not given a clean slate to add everything. I
thought I had prepared well for the test in terms of knowing the terms for the
theories, but I wish to have had more time in class to discuss everything.
The midterm itself was extremely
frustrating for me. In preparation, I wish to have had more application of all
the theories. The discussions we have been writing over the weeks have been
synthesizing what we have learned to what happens in our own lives. I think
that if we had class, this could have alleviated the problem. I do not think I
am alone in this argument considering the average on the midterm was below a
sixty percent. Since the class is solely online, we are responsible for reading
the material. The discussions do not pose any questions or prompts in regards
to the application of all the theories.
I am not thrilled with the grade I received
and if given a second chance I believe I would get a higher score. I am knowledgeable
on how I would be tested and the forms of questions I would be responsible for.
