Lit Review

Initially when reading the literature review assignment, I thought to myself “this will be easy,” unfortunately I was wrong. Answering the four questions was harder than what my group and I expected. The questions seemed to overlap each other so it was hard to decide exactly what material should be used for each section. My group met in person, chatted over the wikispace, and video chatted to work this out. We had to revise it several times, and I still don’t think we’re certain that we did exactly what we needed to.

My job was to focus on the evidenced based practices for our population (higher education). Finding material was hard. When I did find material I didn’t know exactly what to include. I didn’t know if I should include general practices, specific interventions or theories. As a group it was decided that I would focus on general practices and how they worked with our population. This decision kind of help work out the rest of the review. One person would focus on specific interventions, me with the practices, and another with the theories. We were sure that it was all linked and made sense (hopefully, anyways).

I’m happy that the literature review is over but I’m anxious about completing the rest of the assignment. I still don’t “get it”. That is what is actually required, and what we are expected to do. I think people are interpreting this project in different ways which makes me nervous. I feel like as a class we should all have the same idea about what the project should be and based off of the people I’ve talked to- we don’t. I want to get the second part of the assignment done as soon as possible now that the literature review is done but I don’t think we can because we don’t understand the expectations fully.

Personally I am waiting to see what the first group comes up with and use that as basis of understanding on what my group should be doing. We have a basic idea but again are not 100 percent one the expectations. Hopefully seeing a presentation will help us to connect the dots and complete the project.
